Bunkie Boards and Slat Kits

Bunkie Boards and Slat kits are essentially the same thing; they serve the same purpose at least. A Bunkie board is the box spring replacement for bunk beds and is what allows the mattress to lay flat and retain its shape over time.

Slats or slat kits are similar to Bunkie boards in that they preserve the shape and function of the mattress. However, slats are individual pieces that attaché to the frame and do not move, whereas the Bunkie boards are one piece and cover more surface area than the sum of the slats collectively. Both are safe and both are preferred for different reasons.
